Nano’s founder and CEO, Steve Papermaster will present the Societal Impact Award during this year’s EY World Entrepreneur of the Year awards ceremony taking place June 5 – 9 in Monaco. Having advocated for entrepreneurship throughout his career both in public service and in business, Steve co-founded the World Entrepreneur of the Year awards program in 2001. He has actively served as a judge and coach and co-chair of the Global Alumni Council for the program each year since its inception and will present the award alongside his co-chair, Rebecca MacDonald.
The Societal Impact Award is presented to an individual who has not only achieved outstanding success in business, but also has made an innovative, significant and lasting societal impact in the community where they live and work.
The inaugural Societal Impact Award was presented in 2018 to Andrew Forrest, chairman of the Minderoo Foundation. Forrest founded the foundation in 2001, which has since supported more than 250 initiatives in Australia and internationally. The Minderoo Foundation’s Eliminate Cancer Initiative launched the Universal Cancer Databank, a philanthropic, global and anonymized central repository where patients can upload their data to catalyze unprecedented information sharing between cancer scientists and researchers.
“I am honored to present this year’s Societal Impact Award,” said Steve. “This award highlights entrepreneurship and humanity at its best and is a reflection of the values we hold dear at Nano. As a longtime believer that entrepreneurship can affect positive change in the world, the presentation of this award holds special meaning for me. I look forward to celebrating the very deserving 2019 recipient in the coming weeks.”
