Meet our team
Steve is a world-renowned technology entrepreneur, public policy expert, global speaker and author. Steve was appointed, and served two terms, as a senior advisor to former U.S. President George W. Bush on domestic and global strategy for innovation, technology, healthcare and science. As a presidential advisor, he helped lead the National Nanotechnology Initiative, the Human Genome Project and the White House Fellow, one of America’s most prestigious programs for leadership and public service. Steve is a recipient of the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in the U.S. and has served as a U.S. judges chairman for the program. He co-founded the World Entrepreneur of the Year program and has served as judge, chairman or master coach for 15 years. Steve co-authored the book Smart Life, a guide to technology innovation that drives major social changes around the world, which was published in Mandarin.
Bill is a technologist motivated by tackling complex problems with multidisciplinary teams and state-of-the-art methods. He spent ten years at RAND corporation, where he held a number of roles including director of the Engineering and Applied Sciences Department, adjunct professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School, senior management scientist and co-director of the Impact Lab, a virtual hub for mentoring and experimentation aimed at RAND’s research staff, which Bill co-conceived of and designed. Previously, he served in the United States Air Force, where he was an acquisition officer and engineer responsible for a portfolio of advanced technologies and development programs meant for space and air. He has public speaking experience includes a TEDx talk titled, “Are We Smarter than the Dinosaurs?”, as well as interviews for a number of publications and podcasts. His portfolio of published research spans the topics of artificial intelligence, privacy and information sharing, space policy, organizational culture and technology use and assessment. Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia and his MBA and master’s degree in finance from the Boston College Carrol School of Management.
Amy Hay is an experienced leader in setting strategy, negotiating transactions and implementing programs on a global scale. Her firm, Evolve International, is focused on supporting innovation and acceleration across the health industry. Her clients span healthcare organizations, biotech and big data startups, foundations and medical vendors. Prior to Evolve, Amy was the senior vice president of network development at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she was a member of the chief operating officer’s senior leadership team and was instrumental in setting the institutional strategy for local, national and international expansion. She is actively involved in the Biden Cancer Initiative and sits on multiple boards, including The Amazing Place. Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southwestern University and her master’s degree in healthcare administration from Houston Baptist University.
As a product and business development leader, Aaron has played integral roles at a range of technology ventures throughout his career. He has helped architect and bring to market integrated solutions across enterprise communications, mobile commerce, IT, network infrastructure, security, digital controls and automation. He is a founding member of the Nano team and previously held positions at the venture development firm Powershift Group, Dell and software startups including Appconomy and Moxie Software. He founded Free Range, a full-service provider of unified audio/video automation and digital control systems for high-end commercial and residential properties. Aaron earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the George Washington University School of Business.
Zoltan’s experience spans over 30 years globally with startups, venture capital, and public companies. He has significant operational, administrative, legal, IP and venture capital experience. Zoltan was a founding team member and on the Board of Lifeproof which had a successful exit. He also was on the founding team and an executive at Interpreta, a digital predictive health care company, which successfully exited to Centene. Zoltan has also been an executive at public companies and co-founded two venture capital companies, including the first foreign company licensed to conduct investment banking management in mainland China. He also helped architect and launch TEL Venture Capital, Inc., a corporate VC. Zoltan graduated from University of Michigan and received his law degree from Michigan State University.
Susie is a seasoned business partner focused on developing high-capacity organizations in rapid-growth technology companies from early phase startup to established enterprise. She has significant experience with strategic HR planning and development, recruiting and hiring, M&A, change management, leadership development and risk mitigation. Susie has led the HR and people functions at domestic and global companies with employee teams on five continents.
Emmanuel has a range of experience in entrepreneurship, business and product development. Prior to Nano, he co-founded Teacher Sherpa, a SAAS platform for teachers to find, create and share classroom materials. He has also served as VP of business development and international operations at Build-A-Sign, CEO of Cosmesoap, a soap and bath product manufacturing company, and founder and CEO of Norcom, a prepaid calling card company. Emmanuel earned his bachelor’s degree from Babson College and an MBA from HEC Paris.
Matt’s expertise in marketing and operations stems from his broad experience as an entrepreneur and leader at a number of technology start-ups. Prior to Nano, he founded Broomly, a next-generation home services software platform. He also launched and led several consumer brands within BuildASign, a global online custom printing company, including EasyCanvasPrints.com, where he oversaw the entire business unit. Matt earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the Leeds School of Business at University of Colorado at Boulder.
Nisha has over 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, focusing on marketing and product marketing. Prior to Nano, she led product marketing at trailblazing organizations positioned in the electronic health records, digital wellness and secure cloud hosting segments. Nisha also has a background in Psychology and Public Health from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mark is an experienced business leader with a background in finance, accounting, and operations. He began his career in the assurance practice with Ernst & Young. After five years in public accounting, Mark moved into the technology industry and joined Bazaarvoice as a member of their finance organization managing revenue operations. In this role, he contributed to the company’s successful IPO and follow-on offering in 2012. Mark then transitioned into operations to focus on strategic sales initiatives and led a team responsible for variable compensation within the sales and client service organizations. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a Master of Accountancy degree from Western Carolina University.
Meredith serves as Nano’s Principal Scientist in Residence, with experience across multiple verticals, including non-profits, education, psychology, and finance. Meredith has worked with a number of startups, large colleges, and VC/ PE firms through her role as Principal Scientist at Valkyrie. Prior to Valkyrie, Meredith worked at Goldman Sachs and ACT performing data science and research to improve consumer-facing digital platforms. Meredith has her PhD in Quantitative Methods and MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas. Her dissertation work focused on item selection methods for polytomous computer adaptive testing. She studied Psychology and French at Wake Forest University.
